CSR - Corporate Social Responsibility
At JUNK de LUXE, we are aware of the environmental effect of the textile industry, and we are dedicated to doing our part to reduce this. We aim to reduce our negative impact on the environment and the climate by continuously improving production processes and supporting our suppliers' journey towards a more future-proof production.
Packaging
A significant factor in packaging and waste includes the packaging used for shipping orders and products. This includes plastic bags, tissue paper, and cardboard boxes. We work closely with our external suppliers in continuously evaluating how we can reduce the use of such materials.
No harmful chemicals
The use of harmful chemicals in any production presents a risk, and we are actively working towards avoiding harmful chemicals for the benefit of local biodiversity, the environment, and the health of the people working in the production chain.
PWT Group, who owns JUNK de LUXE, has collaborated with Bureau Veritas in creating a list of restricted substances (Restricted Substances List, or RSL). The RSL is valid for all clothing and accessories produced for and by PWT Group. It is mandatory for all suppliers to sign the RSL document before beginning production. The RSL is based on Regulation (EC) No 1907/2006 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 18 December 2006 concerning the Registration, Evaluation, Authorisation and Restriction of Chemicals (REACH). The list is continuously updated.
Improved materials
The most durable type of clothing is a quality product that can last for many years. PWT Group, the owners of the JUNK de LUXE brand, have spent the last few years working on producing fewer items and increasing the quality and durability of each item. As of 2024, we have reached a decrease of 63% of our designs (compared to data from 2017).
According to research in the field, the largest CO2 emission from a textile production chain comes from the production of materials - consisting of 38%. It is therefore essential for the industry to go from conventional production processes and materials to more viable options with a lower carbon footprint.
To achieve this, our design and purchasing departments work closely with our external suppliers — this approach ensures a collaboration that aims to find solutions that make sense for all involved. Our increased focus on this has resulted in a commitment to several initiatives such as producing more products with organic cotton, recycled materials, and memberships in Better Cotton and FSC™ - Forest Stewardship Council™.

Better Cotton
PWT Group collaborates with Better Cotton to improve cotton production globally. We have made this commitment because we wish to embrace a positive change in the cotton industry.
Better Cotton improves cotton production for the cotton farmers, the environment, and the future of this sector. This includes educating the farmers in efficient water usage, how to care for the soil and the plants as well as the natural habitats, reducing the use of the most harmful chemicals, and respecting their workers' rights and well-being.
PWT Group are committed to sourcing 50% of our cotton as Better Cotton by 2025. Our products are sourced via a system of mass balance and therefore may not all contain Better Cotton. Read more here.

OEKO-TEX®
PWT Group have certified a number of products with OEKO-TEX® STANDARD 100 (certificate 2176-328 from DTI). This is one way for us to offer our customers products that are safe from harmful chemicals, and which have been produced with certified materials.
A STANDARD 100-certified product has been tested against a list of more than 1,000 substances that are harmful for human health and the environment - down to threads, buttons, and other accessories. OEKO-TEX retests the threshold values of all substances on the list at least once per year.
A product that is STANDARD 100-certified always adheres to the same standards, threshold values, and test methods. By testing the same samples in different laboratories through the same methods, OEKO-TEX ensures there is always a precise basis for comparison.
